Film and Television Incentives (FTI)

The film and television production incentives of the DTIC are open to filmmakers owning companies registered and operating in South Africa. The incentives offer up to R50 million to qualifying companies for carrying out approved production activities in South Africa. The grant does not cover the cost of marketing and distribution of productions, among other exclusions.

For Who? Production companies and Production Services Companies
For What? The production of local films and television projects as well as for servicing foreign projects filmed locally.

Qualifying costs include:

  • Set construction
  • Travel and Accommodation
  • Costume Design, etc
How?
  1. Prepare application along with supporting documentary evidence for provisional approval
  2. Supply confirmation of Start of Principal photography after receiving approval
  3. Submit claims at agreed upon periods, with audited financial statements

Beneficiary Contribution 10 – 25% of the total production budget secured before application
